What is the Speed Limit in Belmont?

In the spring of 2017, Belmont Town Meeting voted to lower the speed limit in Thickly Settled areas from 30MPH to 25MPH.   The following streets and roads are NOT covered by the 25MPH Thickly Settled speed limit.  These streets and roads either have their own posted speed limits or they do not meet the criteria for Thickly Settled.

Streets with previously posted speed limits under Ch 90-18:

Clifton Street, Goden Street, Leonard Street, Lexington Street, Prospect Street, Royal Road, School Street, Shean Road, Weber Road & Pearson Road.

Not Thickly Settled regulated by Ch 90-17:

Concord Ave from Lexington town line to Robin Wood Road, Winter Street from Lexington town line to Country Club Lane & Mill Street from Trapelo Road to McLean Drive.

The Belmont Police are always on the lookout for speeding motor vehicles.  Normal speed meets every need. Drive 25 MPH it's the limit!!
