Community Notification
October 19, 2005

 

On Thursday August 25, 2005 at 5:30 pm, two eleven year old females were followed by a white male operating a white van. The male was seen videotaping the young girls as they were walking down Washington St. Belmont. He drove by them multiple times as he was taping. At the intersection of School and Washington, the male was seen masturbating inside of the van.

Detectives were able to ascertain that a white male operating a white van was arrested by the Stoneham Police Department on September 3,2005 at 6:30 pm The incidents were of the same nature. A search warrant was executed on the video tapes that were recovered in the van. As a result of the search warrant Detectives were able to identify the Belmont incident.

The suspect was identified was Joseph DiYorio age 31, of 623 North Chase Rd. Mount Chase Maine. An arrest warrant was issued for DiYorio charging him with 2 counts of accosting a person, 2 counts of disorderly and Lewd and Lacivious. He turned himself into the Belmont Police Department on October 12, 2005. He was taken to Cambridge Court, and is currently out on bail awaiting trial.
