The Rape Aggression Defense System is a national program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques taught for women only. RAD provides self-defense options to women regardless of their physical abilities. Women of all ages, experience, and strength are welcome. All students under the age of 14 are required to have parental consent.

All RAD courses are taught by nationally certified RAD instructors. We aim to provide students with the knowledge to make an educated decision about personal defense. We provide women with the options of physical and non-physical defense as well as insight into the mindset of the attacker.

The course consists of four 4 hour classes. The classes begin with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and risk avoidance, and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training. RAD provides women with the knowledge to make educated decisions about resistance.

All 4 classes are required to receive a certificate in the RAD program.

Please contact the Belmont PD RAD Hotline at 617-993-2497 or email RAD@BelmontPD.org . Leave your name, telephone number, and the number of women interested. If you have joined a class and are unable to attend, please notify us at least 1 week before the first class.
