The prevention of crime is a primary focus and goal of the Belmont Police Department. It is when crimes are prevented that society is best served. The Belmont Police Department has several measures in place to prevent crime and help citizens and business's to determine their own risk assessment.
The Belmont Police Department Crime Prevention/Community Services Bureau, provides free crime prevention assistance to all town residents.  The Department provides programs which suggest techniques you may implement to reduce your chances of being a victim of crime.
The most widely accepted definition of crime prevention is: the anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it.
